Carter's Room!

My sister Kimberly was in town for a week over the Memorial Day holiday and spent almost all of her time getting Carter's room put together.  We had most of the parts...paint, furniture, carpet, some decorations...but we could never make it happen.  BUT NOW his room looks like this!

Sorry for the poor lighting...

Carter's crib!!

And we used some old license plates that Jeff had in the garage to help with our transportation theme.

 The new dresser!

And we used the flags that my sister had used for decoration at the baby shower too.  They look a little like racing flags to me.  :)

Carter's changing table.   Our cloth diapering is going well too.  He has outgrown his newborn stash already.  It is crazy how big he is getting.

The glider is really comfy although it was a b*tch to put together and took 3 people...but that's another story!

And of course you know that Jeff had to put his special touch (ie: stickers) in his room.

Basking in the fruits of Kimberly's labor.  The dogs are loving the carpet and 'their' new play area!

Fluffy snuggly baby blankets

Say that 3 times fast!  :)

Carter decided to stay awake for almost the entire day.  During his newborn 'photo shoot', during the 3 hour disc dog playdate, during the ride home, then socializing with Jeff's best friend who is back from Morocco and came to visit.  Then he had to eat 4 times, but now....he finally fell asleep!!!

Since I couldn't decide which picture I liked better,  I decided to post both!

Now that is one soft, snuggly baby blanket.  Carter definitely likes it.  Makes you want to cuddle up and go to sleep, doesn't it?  Yeah-maybe I should have tried this blanket about 5 hours ago.

Thank heaven for....

Little boys  Sisters!

My sister Kimberly is in town from Washington, DC to hang with her nephew.

But really she has spent most of her time putting together Carter's room.  So far she has spackled, taped, painted, touched up paint, shopped for decorations, spray painted her findings, matted pictures, hung curtains (after shopping for said curtains), updated outlet covers, cleaned and much, much more.  And the room isn't even done yet - but it looks awesome!  I will be so excited to show off his new digs once they're all done.  There will be pics, I promise.

Oh, and she has also been keeping the dogs very, very happy.  Because in addition to all her ridiculously hard work, she watches Carter so that I can throw the dogs some Frisbees.  We got in 3 good sessions today!  And then they thanked her by laying all over her....

Thank you Kimberly!

Carter feels grass for the first time

It's been rainy for practically a week straight here.  That just makes for a very cabin-fevered mommy, baby, and dogs.  Thankfully, Mother Nature came through for us today.  We were able to get out and go to a disc dog competition (we didn't compete but it was still fun) and hang out on the front lawn in the sunshine.  SUCH a nice change of pace.  I forgot to bring my camera to the comp-but I did take some front yard shots.  :)

As soon as his toes touched the grass, he pulled those little legs up!

So Dad came and helped him out a little.

Then we all had a good laugh about it.  (Maybe it wasn't a 'laugh' now that I think about it.)
So we moved on to Unky Dave's arms in hopes of solace.  And surprisingly he found it!

And it was nap time in no time!

So into the sling he went!

And slept like a baby!  ;-)

And Jeff, David and X finished the yard work while we relaxed.  I could get used to this!

Baby Carter is here!!

I'm typing this as a sweet, 9 day old baby, sleeps on my chest.

Carter Emmett arrived May 7th, 2011.

He was 6 lbs, 8oz and 19 3/4" long.  We had a very fast labor and he knew he was ready to grace us with his presence sooner rather than later.  He arrived 10 days early and his timing was perfect.  I was having light contractions as I slept on Friday night and was hoping that this could be a good sign of things to come.  Then my water broke Saturday morning at 9am and after cleaning the house up (so we didn't come home to a messy house), showering, then dropping Team RK off at a friends house we were off to the hospital.  We checked in at 12:15pm.  Carter arrived at 3:27pm.  Talk about quick!  He sure made it easy to hold off on getting an epidural which was our hope from the beginning.

He checked out great at the hospital and didn't need any special treatment at all.  He was able to breastfeed right away and did a great job!  He just made us so proud in every way.

Here he is with his daddy.   His very first father/son picture.

Less than one hour old.

And a few from the last few days that I just adore.

Sleeping in the hospital:

Ready to leave the hospital in his brand new car seat!  Just look at how tiny he is....

He loves to sleep with his hands up by his face:

See?

Such a doll!!

No more pictures mom!

I guess we will have to end there!  :)

Fall 2010 update

So, I have been without my wonderful, amazing Mac for a few months now.  For whatever reason the ethernet connection doesn't work any more and I couldn't log onto the internet wirelessly either.  In comes Genius Bar!  They fixed my wireless connection and are ordering me the new part to fix my ethernet cable connection too.  Ahhh, I feel so much better!

I also realized how long it's been since I've been updating the blog because I had pictures from October that I still hadn't downloaded from my camera yet.  That's bad.  So, these are old, but I like them so here you go!

Taking the Georgetown Loop Railroad this past fall:

How would you like to be the employee fixing trains off this platform?  Yeah-no thanks!

 My mom and Gary.  :)

We also went back up to our favorite Bed & Breakfast in Evergreen for our 1 year anniversary.  And of course, we took TeamRK up with us to share the love!

And we also found some Elk to hang around with.  Pretty amazing.

And we also took a stroll through the Chatfield Botanic Gardens:

It was a wonderful autumn season and I'm sorry it took so long to share with you.  Hopefully, I will update more frequently.  Cuz, ya know - we are going to have a lot to write about soon!  ;-)
